Fuzzy Buttruffles and the New Crib

Hello everyone! Things here are going well. We've pretty much settled in like we've been here forever, and I'm used to being back at work. It's funny, when I worked there before I'd try to convince myself I was sick or I'd use the smallest excuse to take my free days, but now that I HAVE to work so that we can have enough money (and hopefully a little extra) those urges seem to be gone, thank goodness. And I think I'm doing well there. It's the only place I've ever felt like I'm actually good at my job. And we maybe... just maybe can afford to go to MO. That all depends on our stimulus check, which we still haven't gotten. That's probably for the best though, since the closer we get it to when we leave, the less likely we'll spend it on something else.
So here's an outfit that Jana will appreciate. Butt ruffles! I think it's actually the only one that we got that has them, and she may not get to wear it ever again because it will be too hot for the rest of the year. It's just been rainy here for the past few days, so we were back in the 40's.

Also, as you can see, if you prop her up on something she can stand on her own, which is cool because it means her balance is getting a lot better. She can't pull up on it or anything, and she still doesn't crawl, but she is slowly improving in the major motor skills area. Just so you know, as I typed that last sentence I looked back and she dove from a sitting position to a face-first position on the couch. Why is she still awake, you ask? I ask myself that question every night.

We were finally able to get Chaela a crib! I'm so excited. I went Saturday and bought it, but it didn't fit in the car so we had to go back today with a friend of Will's who has a truck. I spent the afternoon putting it together by myself and I only needed Will's help once, and that was just to help me line up a million little holes in one side of the dresser with a million little pegs on the other side. Woohoo I am amazing!! I was also able to get the bedding on Saturday and I got one that has ladybugs all over it, and the main colors are red and green with less pink, so I was happy. It came with a really cute quilt, but since it's too hot I've been thinking of using it as a wall hanging for the summer. It's on top of the dresser part in this picture (which is technically a changing table, but we mostly use the floor).

I think the trundle drawer underneath will be great for storing her extra blankets or toys that she's going to want to be able to get to herself when she's older. I still want to get the dust ruffle. I know they're useless but I want it to be cute! And I like that it turns into a toddler bed and a children's day bed. If we ever get to use it like that. Convertible cribs are only as useful as the years between your kids.

Oh, the Merry Month of May!

Hey everyone!

Once again, I tried to post yesterday, but due to this new internet being slow and taking forever to upload my videos, I forgot what I was doing and closed the window AGAIN. So I've decided for now to just do a bunch of pictures and one video, especially since it's past midnight and I really should get to bed. Since Diane inspired me, I may be doing a video tour of my apartment once it's all unpacked. It's getting there, and we finally got the last loads of stuff over on Sunday, but I still have a long way to go. It's been hard, especially since I'm back at the Telefund again working nights. That hasn't been too bad, either. I actually really enjoy getting out of the house (even though, like most jobs, it can get boring).

In crazier news, guess what! American Idol is going to be holding auditions in Salt Lake for their next season. Weird! I guess their sister show "So You Think You Can Dance" had auditions here and there was so much talent that the producers (who make both shows) decided to come here for singers, too. I don't think they'll be dissapointed. And personally it's my theory that singing and dancing are a larger part of LDS culture than they are anywhere else, so the reason the shows are finding talent here is because we're told to develop our talents, not hide them.

Anyways, here are the newest Chaela pictures!! This is her hiding in our new hall closet.
Oh, yes, what baby modeling agency could refuse THAT face?!

Splashing is a newly discovered passtime. She likes to hit things. All things. Toys, books, faces, you name it. She also LOVES to pull hair.

Foot-eating is also a new thing. Mmm, delicious.

Here's a video of her splashing. I think it's cute!

Anyways, hope you all are doing well. I'm going to bed so that I can be prepared for my seven o'clock wake-up scream.

Six Months!

Ok, I've tried to post this three times now, but due to 1) me accidentally closing the window and 2)Will doing something crazy and 3) our internet is spotty until Thursday, it hasn't gotten posted until today. So here is my grand masterpiece!

Other than that, our new apartment is great. It's a nice size, clean, and quiet. Our branch is pretty much minuscule. Who knew that there were branches in Orem, Utah? I think it will help us go and stay for the whole time because if we're not there, they'll definitely know! There are a lot of older people here, which is surprising to us because it's an apartment complex. I really hope that we don't end up like that... renting for the rest of our lives. That would be indescribably depressing. It's ok though, Kristin has promised to buy us a house if it comes to that. Haha!

My first Mother's Day went pretty well. Mostly we just went to church and to my friend Amanda's for dinner (delicious enchiladas, Amanda) and played some games with friends after dinner. Yay!

Dilly-dallying

Hello! It's me again. We're supposed to be packing, but Will is asleep on the beanbag with Chaela so I'm online just hanging out. Can I just say that I'm on a huge "Across the Universe" soundtrack kick right now. I could listen to it forever! Here's the thing: the Beatles were BRILLIANT song writers, but I prefer listening to other people perform their songs. Now that could just be because they were recording in the 60's and so they're just not the same quality, but that's how it is. If anyone hasn't heard the soundtrack I HIGHLY recommend it, especially if you like the Beatles.

In other news, I went to Wal-mart yesterday to get formula. I had taken the bus because Will was still at work, but I felt like getting out of the house, and as I was preparing to leave the store (putting the baby sling on and Chaela in the sling) this older Hispanic guy with a diamond earring came up to us. He stood there and looked at Chaela for a while and then said, "Your daughter VERY beautiful." I said thank you and kind of went back to putting the sling on (it takes a few minutes) and he started talking to Chaela, who was still strapped into the cart. He told her that she was VERY beautiful again, then he said, "Yes, you VERY cute. You could be a model. You could be a TV star or something!!" And then he smiled and walked away. It was funny, and of course I love it when people compliment my daughter. I've thought about entering her in baby photo contests and things... but I don't know. So today I looked up a (reputable) modeling agency in Salt Lake and called to see how old a baby had to be for them to represent her. They said three, and when I told them she wasn't that old, they gave me the number for another agency in Salt Lake that works with babies. I called them and they told me to send in her picture, so I did. So we'll see if they call. I don't really care though. I think she's cute and that's all that matters!

This is one of the two pictures I sent in (it was just taken today). The other one is the one of her in her pink dress leaning on the rocking chair that I've posted before.

Supermom!

Ok, not really. But I feel like I'm going to have to be a little bit, because I've made a big decision... I'm going back to work. It's not permanent. In fact, it may only be for about 6 weeks, but we could really use the money. To be completely honest, the only reason I'm doing it is so that we can afford to go on vacation, and I only need to work about six weeks for that. If I do stay longer, it will be to save money to go home to OH for Christmas. So yeah, this next two months I'll still be a full time student (but from home, thanks to Independent Study classes), mom, AND working. So it won't be the relaxing summer I was hoping for, but I think I can handle 20 to 24 hours per week so that I can go to Missouri and then home for Christmas. WOOHOO!! So it's back to the Telefund for me. BYU alumni: be afraid, very afraid. I'm very good at convincing you to hand over your money.

Oh, and I also still need to lose about 35 pounds, so I'll be trying to do that too. And keep the house clean. And move this week. And write something that can be published (since I can make more money publishing one article than I can at the Telefund in 3 weeks working 20 hours each). Dang it! Summer is supposed to be time off!

Ownage Episode

Well it's time for the weekly Halo video...Here it is:
