Hawaiian Swim Pants!

Some of you may know that I've been searching for a swimming suit for Chaela for weeks. The other day I heard that most Dollar Tree stores have swimming suits in small infant sizes, so Will and I went there to see what we could find. However and alas, there were no girl suits at the one in Orem. There were swimming trunks, though, so Will and I decided to get a pair of those and tank top for her to swim in. But when we got home and I tried it on her, we found out that the shorts weren't really shorts.

As you can see.

And then here are some cute pictures.

It's ok though, because I found her a swim suit on sale at Baby Gap for $6, so yay! Now she can be cute and no one will think she's a boy! But I'm glad we went there because I really like the hat and I've been wanting to get her in blue for a while because it makes her eyes look so pretty. Yay again!

Also, can I just say that we're leaving for vacation in MO this week and I'm EXCITED! Aside from the fact that it's MO, which is awesome by itself, Will and I haven't been on a vacation since we were married. WOO HOO!

Chaela's Measurements

Yesterday I was wondering about how big Chaela was, since she hasn't had a doctor's appointment in a while. It might not be accurate, but I measured her and weighed her here at home, so here's what we have.

Height: 26.5 inches (she's grown 6.5 inches since birth)

Weight: 15.0 pounds (she's gained 8 pounds 6 ounces since birth)

Head Circumference: 17.6 inches (?)

So she's grown half a foot and more than doubled her weight! Yay! I looked online and what I found says that she's below the 5th percentile for weight, right about in the 25th for height, and in the 77th percentile for head circumference. So she has a big head. Oh well, she may be small, but at least she's smart!

The Dancing Rumble Pit

So I was playing online with Dustin Lewis and we were playing Rumble Pit which is everyone vs everyone and the other players just started jumping around. It was weird, but quite humorous. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vosJNww8f64

Woo hoo!

I don't really have anything today except new pictures of Chaela. Enjoy! First finger food!
She didn't really eat any of it!

Being a Mom

So I'm just passing the time until I need to go to work, and even though I should be getting ready, I was just thinking about what it means to be a mom. Remember, Chaela is only 7 months, but this is what it means so far. Being a mom means:

Being awake while everyone else in the house is sleeping.

Bolting upright in bed at 3 a.m. and staggering into the other bedroom to put your hand on your baby's chest to make sure they're still breathing.

Doing a little (or a lot) every day to maintain the cleanliness of your house, or it all goes down hill.

Being tired a lot, but going to work anyway.

Figuring out how to be on a schedule... it was never a strong point of mine.

Treasuring even more the time you have alone with your husband.

Finding the value of time to yourself.

The rewarding feeling of the first smile, true eye contact, the raising of hands to be held, and the first time they say mamamama instead of dadadada, even though it doesn't mean anything yet.

The knowledge that you would have spent literally half as much on groceries had you not had to buy diapers and formula.

The warm fuzzies you get every time your baby looks at you and you know that you mean as much to them as they do to you... at least until they're a teenager.

Anyways, there's a lot more, and I'm sure there will be especially as she gets older, but I have to go put makeup and stuff on, lest I scare the people I work with. Later!

Maybe hats aren't her thing

Not much is new this week, but here's the newest batch of pictures. The green outfit is way too big on her if you see it in real life, but I wanted her to wear it anyways. I was kind of sad that she looks so funny in the hat, and I'm hoping it's more the hat's fault than hers, because she's so pale she's going to need some kind of sun protection this summer!! If you look closely you will see that I painted her toenails. I love it! But I only have one shade of nail polish so they're the same as mine.

She also ate her first popsicle today. Delicious! I think she liked it so much because it was cold and it felt good on her gums.

This Weekend

Well this past weekend was pretty fun. Kristin and her boyfriend Jacob came down from Rexburg, so we were able to spend some time with them. He's really nice and they seem pretty happy, so that's good. Yay for Kristin!

Other than that, it was pretty uneventful. We did, however, buy a grill. YES! I LOVE it!! It's just a cheap $20 charcoal one from Wal-mart, but it works just fine for me! And I finally got the flowers Will promised me for Mother's Day. My house is starting to look a little more like a home on the outside... now if I could only make myself work on the inside...

Oh, and sadly, I will not be published. I got the letter back from the magazine on Saturday saying that they wouldn't be using it. :( It took a long time for them to get back to me though, so I'm going to pretend like that means it was a runner-up, because that gives me hope for the future. Oh well, nothing worth it is ever easy!

And here we have a classic picture of my family. At least they're interested in the same things! Haha.
