I might get published!!

One of the assignments for my Advanced English class was to write an article for a children's magazine, and I chose Dig, which is an archaeology magazine for kids between 8 and 14. The catch to the assignment is that we actually have to mail them to the publisher and see if we can get them in the magazines for real. So I worked hard on mine (meaning I actually read the sources instead of skimming) and guess what... my teacher gave it back to me today with this written on it:

"An excellent article. If Dig doesn't buy this, I will help you find another market" SCORE!!!

I'm really excited about this, because if I can get published, I can make up to $500!!! I may have found a job I can do and still work at home!!! I'm so excited! I was thinking about posting the article, but I don't know if anyone will want to read it. If you do, let me know and I'll put it on here and you can give me your feedback! Yay!!!

Just Posting

Well I thought I'd put some more pictures on here. Not too much is new... I'm still struggling through school and everything. I'm pretty much recovered from my surgery, which is really nice since it hasn't even been two weeks yet. Anyways, I have some homework, so I just wanted to put these pictures on for you all. She's starting to hold her bottle by itself! She can't do it when it's all the way full, but she can when there's only an ounce or two left!

Happy Valentine's Day from a Camera-Happy Me!

This is a picture of Will's awesome hair... he let me do it and I went a little crazy with the gel, but I like it! Haha.
Chaela and her daddy after mommy got to both of them will hair products.
Me and my baby. She looks excited to be in this picture... it's a theme you may notice in most of the pictures of this post.

Hiding! This is blurry when it's big but I like it anyway!Just playing with toys. What the...?

A typical night at our house. Will is playing video games, Chaela is fascinated by the TV, Kristin (my sister who lives with us for those who don't know) is at work, and I am conspicuously NOT doing anything constructive. I just thought this was cute.
Face close-up!

Me and Will. He never looks at the camera.

Daddy-daughter naptime! It was cute!

This is a video of her talking. She does it all the time, but I realized a lot of you hadn't actually heard it. She'll do it for like 10 minutes or more without stopping.

Will was giving her a bath on Tuesday and she started laughing! Of course when I got out the camera she pretty much stopped, but you can hear a little of it on here.

So I went a little camera-happy this week. Not much is going on other than that. I've made it back to classes, but I think I over-exerted myself, because I'm back to being pretty sore, so I'm taking a day off. Besides, the weather here is pretty bad. Happy Valentine's day everyone!

Recovery Update

Hello all! Well for those of you who don't know, my surgery went really well. I didn't wake up in the middle or anything. It's pretty interesting to be knocked out like that. Anyways, I'm recovering well. Every day so far I've felt significantly better. I think I'll try and go to school tomorrow, since I've already missed a lot this semester and I know I'll be missing more. So yeah, surgery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and Will has been really helpful with the baby and everything. I'm so glad he could take time off to stay home with us! I'm pretty sore but I haven't even taken any of the narcotics they perscribed me because I haven't felt like it would be worth it. We haven't filled the perscription yet, anyway, so me not needing it saved us some money. Yay! I'd rather spend it on a bumbo chair thing for Chaela. It's a foam chair thing that helps babies learn to sit up on their own. I just think it would be cool to not have to prop her up with pillows and stuff. It's like $40, but we never got a swing or a bouncy chair, so I think I'd rather have this at this point. We'll see.
So they say that being put under can cause amnesia about right before or right after, but it didn't for me. I remember I woke up with my throat hurting from the breathing tube thing, and the first thing I did was start going, "Water, water, help! Help! Water!" I don't know why I was saying "help," probably because my mouth and throat were so dry. I was saying it as loud as I could, but that probably wasn't loud. The funny thing is that I kept yelling it until someone came in and gave me water. Then I started yelling, "Will! Will! Will!" I think I was getting on the nurses' nerves, because one came in right away. Will was on his way, cause he had gone to get something to eat. Haha. It's strange to be that out of it, though. The girl next to me was freaking out. She kept saying, "I have to go to the bathroom!!" and then, "Don't inject me!!" over and over again. I felt bad though, because her husband was not nice to her at all. Will was nice to me, except he kept laughing at me every time I said something. I can't imagine why...

Here's a new Chaela video! It's not very exciting, but my mom will like it because she gave her this toy and Chaela LOVES it!

That Time of the Year Again...

It's time for my annual post. Well I guess I post more than once a year, but compared to what I used to post I've been slacking. Anyway so the Superbowl was upsetting. Although it was a good game and fun to watch, by a good game I mean the last quarter was intense even though Brady couldn't throw the ball to save his life and the Giants decided to go for the record of sacks against Brady, I'm not bitter. I did have support from Caitlyn and Chaela who both wore Patriots colors. We did have tons of food. From Jalapeno Poppers to Chicken strips to a cooler full of drinks and chips and all sorts of dip. And Jacob and Aaron I tried the whole snack food thing for the Superbowl and I'm not gonna lie. Steak is where it's at! I will not have another Superbowl without Steak. Mmmmmm!

Surgery Tomorrow

Well hello family and friends! So I got a call from the doctor's office, and I'm having surgery tomorrow morning at 8 am, but I have to be at the surgical center by 7. Lame! I hate getting up early. It's a good thing at the same time, though, because I won't have to dread it all day. I don't really have much to say about it, mostly because I don't even want to think of it. I've never had anything like this before, so I'm beyond nervous. I think that before these gallstones I honestly thought I'd go my whole life without having to have major surgery. Oh well, once I'm done my life will be SO MUCH easier! Today at school I passed the vending machines and saw all of the chocolaty deliciousness within. All I could think was, "one more day, you sweet little morsel, one more day!"
